Lasik

LASIK, which stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a surgery that corrects vision in people who are nearsighted or farsighted, or who have astigmatism.

It is a type of vision correcting surgery that works by reshaping the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, so that the light focuses on the retina.

When light doesn’t focus on your retina the way it should, the vision gets blurry. This is known as Refractive Error.

The basic types include:

Nearsightedness (myopia) -When your eyeball is slightly longer than typical or the cornea curves too sharply. This causes light rays to focus in front of the retina, which makes distant vision blurry. Objects that are close can be seen fairly clearly. But objects in the distance will be blurry.
Farsightedness (hyperopia) -When you have a shorter than average eyeball or a cornea that is too flat. This causes light to focus behind the retina instead of on it. This makes near vision, and sometimes distant vision, blurry.
Astigmatism -The cornea curves or flattens unevenly. This affects focus of near and distant vision.

Here are the steps performed for LASIK surgery.
